Songs in Jhaptaal along with videos - झपताल में बनाए गए गाने
Jhaptaal is a 10 beat rhythm cycle in Indian Classical Music (10/4 time signature in western). I have tried to make this list with as recent and as popular songs as possible.
There are a few old bollywood songs in Jhaptaal (from the 50s, 60s). This list intentionally does not cover them. Rather it covers newer, more present-day and more popular songs.

1. Kangna
This my all time favorite composition on Jhaptaal. Produced by Rohail Hyatt, Sung by Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad in a recent season of Coke Studio Pakistan (2011). Everything about this song is brilliant - the lyrics, the instruments, the singing, the cinematography... If you have made it to this website and this page, dont leave without listening to this one at least.
2. Gehi Chand Makarand
This is sung by Shankar Mahadevan and is from the recent Marathi Movie 'Kaytar Kaljat Ghusli' (released in 2015). Is is actually in sooltaal (another taal in 10 beat cycle) but I have kept it here because it is super song to listen to in 10 beats.

3. Megh
This is by Aizaz Sohail for Coke Studio Pakistan released in 2020. Have kept this song because of the transition that this song has from Dadra taal (6/4 time signature) to Jhaptaal (10/4 time signature) at 6:20. The beat on the tabla is easily identifiable too.
4. Dil Tarpe
Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Zara Madani for Coke Studio Pakistan released in 2020. End to end in Jhaptaal.
5. Mission Impossible Theme
How many of you remember the mission impossible theme, from the many MI movies? The mission impossible theme and tom cruise are inseparable now, isnt it? Did you know that the original theme was in 5/4 time signature? Even though it is technically not in Jhaptaal I would say it is in 'half-jhaptaal'. Classy and melodious to listen to.
6. Ghayal Hiraniya
Sung by the great Lata Mangeshkar, i could not resist putting this up though it is a song from the 50s.
7. Gondho Ri Maalan
This song is by Hazrat Amir Khusrao. This song timeless, because it is 800 years old. This is text-book song to figure out Jhaptaal beats because the tabla is playing the japtaal theka with minor modifications.
8. Jhedar
This song is from the album Achint and Khan brothers (2018).
8. Moodswings
This song is by the band Jatayu.
